Sustainability
At The Ross
“We will offer an enhanced lifestyle experience to our guests that delivers positive environmental, social, and economic impacts to our local communities.
We will prioritise protecting the planet for the next generation”
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
The Ross is located in one of the most beautiful areas in the world. Protecting this amazing landscape and environment is extremely important to us at both The Killarney Park and The Ross Hotel.
In line with this we continually strive to improve our environment practices in a range of areas including energy, single use plastic and water usage. We also continue to develop a number of ecotourism experiences for our customers to enjoy.
We are Gold Certified members of The Green Hospitality Programme which is the only Irish environmental certification standard for the hospitality sector. The GreenHospitality.ie Eco-label and Awards are recognised both nationally and internationally as standards that allow members to achieve good environmental performance and allow visitors to choose “Greener” hospitality businesses, knowing that defined criteria are being implemented and monitored.
We are founding members of The Killarney Hotels Sustainability Group which is a group of hotels totaling more than 3,000 bedrooms that take protecting our landscape and environment at the forefront of what we do.
UNWTO Definition for Sustainability, “Tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment, and host communities.”
The Green Sustainability Team at The Ross are always looking for ways to help reduce our carbon footprint and welcome any questions or suggestions you may have. Please do not hesitate to contact hello@theross.ie
Preserving Killarney's Natural Beauty
Caring for Nature, Today and Tomorrow
Our Commitment to Protecting Nature
At The Ross, we embrace our role as caretakers of the natural environment. Nestled in one of Ireland’s most stunning landscapes, we are committed to preserving this unique ecosystem for future generations. As proud members of the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, we are working to make our grounds a sanctuary for local biodiversity.
Supporting Ireland’s Pollinators
We are delighted to support the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, which focuses on protecting vital species like bees and butterflies, essential for biodiversity. Our carefully cultivated gardens feature pollinator-friendly plants, creating a safe haven for these creatures. By joining this initiative, we are helping restore habitats and maintain the delicate balance of Killarney’s ecosystems.
Cradle-to-Cradle Certified Cleaning Products
We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint, and one way we achieve this is by using Cradle-to-Cradle certified cleaning products. These products are designed with sustainability in mind, ensuring safety for human health and the environment at every stage of their lifecycle. Certified for using renewable energy and recyclable materials, these products help us significantly minimise our impact.
Helping You Be a Mindful Guest
We invite our guests to join us in being mindful of the substances they bring during their stay. Certain personal care products, such as sunscreens and insect repellents, may contain chemicals harmful to local ecosystems, especially our delicate waterways and plant life. We encourage you to choose eco-friendly, non-toxic alternatives to help protect the environment we all cherish.
Thank you for supporting our commitment to sustainability and for helping us preserve Killarney’s natural beauty for generations to come.
