Mexican Summer Party BBQ….

Killarney – Tuesday 11th May, 2010 – Those who headed into The Lane Café Bar at The Ross last Friday, were greeted with the phrase ‘Ola Amigos – a night that was not to be missed!!

One of Killarney’s most popular hot spots once again became cocooned in another of its fantastic events. Last Friday 7th, The Lane Café Bar in The Ross held a ‘Mexican Summer Party BBQ’ – an outstanding evening! Locals alike flocked into The Lane to enjoy food & drink amongst a lively folk who had dressed up for the occasion. Rifles & Multi-coloured Sombreros did not go unnoticed.

Those who attended tucked into a choice of Cancun Sizzle Burgers, Chicken Salsa Burgers and Nachos with Chilli Con Carne. Others sipped on Margeritas and Tequila with Lemon as they chatted amongst friends. The resident DJ impressed the crowd whilst playing a Mexican Summer Mix from ‘La Bamba’ to ‘Walking on Sunshine’. In addition to this, Don Juan O’Connor delighted the guests with a gun sling which provided a special lane tequila mix for each of the tables. An unforgettable and fun evening was had by all in colourful and friendly surroundings.

The Ross – Salon Styled Designer Show….

Killarney – April 14th, 2010 – A Salon Styled Designer Show, as part of Kerry Fashion Weekend was held in The Ross - a fantastic evening!

One of Killarney’s most popular hot spots drew many ladies for the Salon Styled Designer Show last Saturday 10th, at The Lane Café Bar. The show was produced by Upfront PR, Event and Model Management. Topped with the latest collections from Matt Doody, Caroline Atelier, Kathleen McAuliffe, Caroline Leahy and Norma O’Donoghue to name but a few, these designers set the scene for an exclusive preview of their garments. An evening of glamour and style was had by all.

Those who attended enjoyed a drink on arrival from Kerry Fashion Weekend followed by a fashion show where guests met with a spectacular selection of items from each of the designers and well known boutiques such as Fran and Jane, Hannons of Castleisland and MacBees of Killarney. It was an eventful evening as Melanie Morris, editor of Image Magazine, chose local girl Jill Duggan as the Best Dressed Lady.

Kerry Fashion Weekend (KFW) 2010 will take place on Saturday 10th and
Sunday 11th of April. The weekend aims to celebrate and promote designers,
and those working in the Kerry Fashion industry, locally, nationally and

KFW is produced by Kerry based consultancy, Upfront PR, Event & Model Management.
Once again, Ireland’s top fashion bible, Image Magazine, have confirmed as the official
media partner and Killarney Crystal are on board as sponsors of Fashion Award Trophies.
Highlights of KFW 2010 include Salon Styled Designer Show in the Ross Hotel, Killarney
on Saturday 10th of April and KFW Awards Luncheon in the Award winning Aghadoe
Heights Hotel on Sunday 11th of April. Also for fashion and fun, KFW are also compiling a
Best and Worst Dressed Lists of Irish and international celebrities. Winners (and

The fabulous and fashionable, Lane Cafe Bar at the boutique and chic, The Ross Killarney, is
the venue for the KFW 2010 Designer Salon Show. The evening will exclusively feature new
collection launches from the amazingly talented Claire O Connor (Lilc Couture), Eilis Boyle,
Margaret O’Rourke (Mo Muse), Carol Kelly and Caroline Atelier, as well as last year’s KFW
winners, Kathleen McAuliffe, House of Delphine and Matt Doody, plus more to be confirmed.
The evening will also feature top designer boutique fashion representing Kerry, Irish and
international labels and the Best Dressed Lady will win KILLARNEY CRYSTAL necklace.
Kerry Fashion Designer of the Year Awards, Aghadoe Heights Hotel

The highlight of the Weekend, the Kerry Fashion Designer of the Year Awards, aim to provide a
forum for both established and emerging designers to showcase their talent to a local,
national and international audience. Last year, womenswear and bridal designer, Delphine
Grandjouan (overall); milliner Kathleen McAuliffe and womenswear designer, Matt Doody,
walked away with the gongs. This year, the competition in the fashion stakes promises to be
equally high and even more glamourous! Everyone is welcome to attend the awards in the
Aghadoe and enjoy the fashion, fine food and opportunity to be there and see who is declared
the Awards winners in 2010. Once again, the Awards luncheon is being filmed by TV3 Xpose
and promises to attract many well known faces from the world of fashion and celebrity (last
year Pamela Flood, Ken Boylan, Cathy O Connor, Louise Kennedy, Triona McCarthy, Derrick
Carberry and Deric Hartigan were just some of the famous faces spotted at the Awards).
In its inaugural year, KFW 09 attracted international designers Louise Kennedy and Don O Neill
(now dressing celebrities on the red carpet with his new label THEiA) and editor of IMAGE,
Melanie Morris, to deliberate on its judging panel. KFW 2010 is no exception, and the judges of
the Awards are Melanie Morris, Editor, Image Magazine; Joanne Hynes, Award winning
international fashion designer; Constance Harris, Fashion Editor, Sunday Independent and
Debbie O Donnell, TV3, Xpose
The KFW Fashion Designer Awards 2010 are open to all designers, either working / living
in Kerry and open to all designers, born in Kerry, or whose Mother or Father where born in
Kerry, and are now working in the fashion industry nationally or internationally. This year,
there is a new category for designers under 25, so as to encourage would be fashion
designers of the future, who may still be in school or college, to step forward and showcase
their talent. The four Award Categories are Kerry Fashion Designer of the Year; Kerry
Accessory Designer of the Year; One to Watch and Young Designer of the Year (NEW

The winner in each category will receive a specially commissioned Killarney Crystal trophy
and be included in IMAGE magazine and on TV3 Xpose coverage of event. In addition, the
overall Winner of the Kerry Fashion Designer title (who will be selected from both fashion and
accessory designer categories) will receive a full day’s shoot with top photographer, including
professional make up, styling and model. The shoot will be featured on the prestigious

Winter Events at The Lane….

Make the most of these longer evenings and avail of the new and exciting Winter Events in the Lane at The Ross. Due to the success of The Ross’s ‘Act of Summer BBQs’ the team have organised various events over the coming months. These include ‘The Halloween Fancy Dress Party’, ‘Battle of the iPods’, Friday Night Tapas & Wine and last but not least a ‘Christmas Jumper Party’.

This Friday 30th October, dress up in your favourite Halloween costume, bring your friends along, and soak up the scary delights of a perfect Halloween Fancy Dress party. In addition, a BBQ will be held from 8pm. A Burger & a Cocktail will set you back just €10.00 and with the resident DJ playing many of the popular hits, The Lane will once again prove itself as the embodiment of ‘hip and live’.

For the food and wine lovers - having reached the end of another long week why not enjoy a tasty platter of tapas over conversation with friends. Each Friday from 5pm – 8pm The Lane is offering Tapas and Wine for four people for only €50.00.

For those who are interested in something different, feel free to stroll into The Lane for the ‘Battle of the iPods’. This is open to everyone. They encourage all to come along and to bring your own iPod or music device where you can impress the crowd with two songs. This event will take place every Saturday night from 10pm over the month of November.

Wait for it, there is more! Do you want to salvage your oldest and funniest jumpers? On Tuesday 22nd December from 9pm, The Lane is offering you the chance to recoup your old Christmas jumper for the festive occasion and be in with a chance to win a prize for the best jumper on the night. After all, it could be you!!!!

Its town centre location, combined with design led décor, lively atmosphere and great service provides the perfect backdrop to these fun filled evenings! So go on, don’t miss out, come along and avail of these eventful evenings for all in The Lane at The Ross!
